Ode to the Ocean
Made from plastic pieces that washed ashore onto a local beach. This piece was created to raise awareness about the over use and negligent lifecycle of plastics. Our actions and consumption practices matter.
Thermals of Thought
Curated with paper, tape, styrofoam packaging, glue, and paint. This outfit was made in expression for air pollution awareness. The black and white symbolize our clean and polluted air. Thermals are created when shadows and light mix. Within the contrast of our predicament humanity can create the winds of change.
Plastic Straws
Two dresses were made to highlight the need for policy around single use plastics. Conscious manufacturing and consuming is a must these days. With humanity's innovations and ability to modify the elements, we have a responsibility to be healthy stewards of the planet. Please do your part to put an end to unnecessary single use plastic consumption.
Fire Hose
Created out of fire hose and wire 2 dresses were made highlighting awareness of the threat of wild fires, as well as in gratitude to all firefighters. Christy has been personally impacted by wildfire, and hopes to help others understand the significance and need for fire management. In the state of California fire has been used as an agricultural tool prior to colonization. Many native plants need fire to complete their life cycle. Understanding fire as a tool rather than an enemy, we can manage the land in a healthy way.
Mylar Balloons
Made from Mylar Balloons these outfits were curated to raise awareness about balloons being released and harming wildlife, especially in the oceans. These are another example of a product that can be replaced with better environmentally friendly materials.
Flowers, Plants & Paper
Made to honor the land that we reside on. These outfits represent regrowth and the importance of cultivation, along with the wisdom that the plants carry.
Cellophane Plastic Wrap
Our economy relies on plastic. This outfit was made to again highlight the need for alternatives to single use. Made with wood, cellophane wrap, and a little tape.
